The Armed Forces Support Group (AFSG) joined Park Junior School in Colne on a history lesson, a number of children have asked the question ‘What is this D-Day’, and the AFSG team took the answer to one school for them to find out.
Chairman of AFSG Mike Sutcliff and Ex Army Staff Sergeant Dave Jones put on a Power Point display with a difference, we had the children play the major characters, and had around 20 of then dressed up in part uniforms, and all the Flags of the UK were used, and together we went through the planning and launching of D-Day. its been noted that with the younger end meaning 30 and less there is sadly a great lack of knowledge of this huge part of our history, but not at Park Juniors, we were supported by Teacher Dean Farry, and all with the kind permission of the head teacher Sarah Midgley.
